A road diverged…

This is the quandary the New York Jets find themselves in this off season: a regime predicated on building through the draft is faced with numerous holes to fill on a team that went 4-12 last season in a free agent pool that has top-end talent available at two positions of need – guard and [...]

Will the Eagles make a splash in free agency?

In a word… no. This year’s free agent crop was devastated by the dreaded franchise tag, which prevented the Birds from pursuing potential targets like Marcus Trufant and Jared Allen. But that doesn’t mean Andy Reid & Co. won’t make some kind of splash; read on we assess the team needs and speculate on some possible moves.

Homeward Bound

The Flyers stayed relatively quiet at the trade deadline, acquiring former Flyer Václav Prospal but failing to pick up a defenseman. Read on for our take on Paul Holmgren’s deadline move.

For the NFL, it’s never the offseason

While I pathetically sit here (equally pathetically – and unsuccessfully) attempting to clock linebackers run the 40 yard dash on TV at the NFL Combine – the last “athletic event” (how ridiculous is that) in the RCA Dome’s history – we should attend to a few matters with the Jets and Giants current rosters.

Garcia redux? (examining the Phils bullpen)

Wasn’t that nice of Brad Lidge? Before Phillies fans got overexcited about the upcoming season, he did us the courtesy of tempering expectations by reinjuring his knee on Saturday during batting practice. Read on to find out how this affects the rest of the Phils’ bullpen.

Flyers’ aspirations take a blow to the head

What Flyers fans feared for much of the season was confirmed Wednesday night: Simon Gagne will miss the rest of this season after suffering several concussions earlier this year. It’s a huge blow for the Orange and Black, especially considering their recent seven-game slide (though the final loss to Ottawa on Tuesday night at least came in overtime) and the spate of injuries that has plagued them over recent weeks.

Obligatory Knicks/Sixers post

We didn’t manage to catch the game tonight, but it looks like we didn’t miss much: a 124-84 win for the Sixers, with Willie Green (of all people) leading the good guys in scoring with 21. Good way for the Sixers to bounce back from a rough 16-point loss to the T’Wolves… via the transitive property then, the Knicks must live with the fact that the worst team in the NBA (other than Miami) is 56 points better than them.

Now you see it, now you don’t

After an oh-so-close weekend set with Georgetown and Louisville, we bemoan the inability of our Friars to play with any kind of consistency… and we look at what that’s doing to the program.
